Summary

Beautifully written。 Thought provoking。 Still I think I will pass on watching the series that everyone is raving about。

I liked the book。 I am glad that I read it。 Topic aside, I think it is a well writen dystopia。 All characters were very well developed and believable。 I won't reread the book nor read the sequel, because it is not the book for me。 I love assertive characters who actively fight againt their circumstances and succeed in changing their reality or die trying。 I love character growth。 I love complex plots。 Offred is is a passive character who remains a victim to her circumstances。 Events just happen I liked the book。 I am glad that I read it。 Topic aside, I think it is a well writen dystopia。 All characters were very well developed and believable。 I won't reread the book nor read the sequel, because it is not the book for me。 I love assertive characters who actively fight againt their circumstances and succeed in changing their reality or die trying。 I love character growth。 I love complex plots。 Offred is is a passive character who remains a victim to her circumstances。 Events just happen to her, she is not the cause of them。 。。。more

I can’t say I enjoyed this book。 The content is too heavy for me to say that。 However, I do think this book makes you think, and I think I’ll be thinking about it for a long time。

I loved this book and I am so so so disappointed that I watched the Netflix series first。 I absolutely adored the writing style and the storyline - I am going to order the rest of the books。

CaptivatingI started with watching the Handmaid’s Tale series but the book did not disappoint !! I liked getting into the thoughts of the narrator。 The ending was unexpected- will have to read the sequel。

Since I've been watching the series, I figured I might as well read the book and I was not disappointed。 Margaret Atwood is a genius。 It's hard to believe that the book is set in the 80's because of how applicable it is to the current climate。 I was also surprised with the differences between the book and the show but nevertheless, I would classify this as a masterpiece。 Since I've been watching the series, I figured I might as well read the book and I was not disappointed。 Margaret Atwood is a genius。 It's hard to believe that the book is set in the 80's because of how applicable it is to the current climate。 I was also surprised with the differences between the book and the show but nevertheless, I would classify this as a masterpiece。 。。。more

The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood is a thrilling tale of a hierarchical society that controls women。 It’s set in the near future, after a new regime called the Republic of Gilead takes over the United States。 Birth rates and fertility have gone down due to pollution and radioactivity。 The story is narrated by Offred, a Handmaid whose only purpose is to be the surrogate mother to a wealthy infertile couple。 Full of cliffhangers, unexpected twists, and intense scenes, this book is hard to put The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood is a thrilling tale of a hierarchical society that controls women。 It’s set in the near future, after a new regime called the Republic of Gilead takes over the United States。 Birth rates and fertility have gone down due to pollution and radioactivity。 The story is narrated by Offred, a Handmaid whose only purpose is to be the surrogate mother to a wealthy infertile couple。 Full of cliffhangers, unexpected twists, and intense scenes, this book is hard to put down。 Atwood provides an interesting view of how the book was written in the prologue, writing that everything in the book has happened before in some way。 These words provide an eerie perspective that brings the novel to life。 Fans of dystopian books like Brave New World and 1984 should give The Handmaid’s Tale a try。 。。。more
